I have an 01 Viggen (leased) and have been thru same stuff. Leased fr. Wesport Ct dealer. It's not really an easy call and ultimately it would be upto Saab USA, not an individual dealer to cover warranty. Downside of leasing is you are limited to changes u can make. I have upgraded air filter and exhaust w/ no warranty implications according to my dealer. I plan on uprgrading 1 size on my tires when it's time and will do Abbott's Rescue kit for handling this spring. If I were to have a front-end problem (slim chance) after instalation then dealer would probably not cover me under warranty. If I were to install an ECU then have a major engine problem they would blame it on ECU and use that as a reason for voiding warranty. I am willing to gamble on not having any front-end problems and gaining big improvement in handling but I'm definetly not willing to install an ECU and suffer possible repair costs in the thousands if there were an engine problem. My dealer's explaination was engine mod's will void the warranty.
