I've driven manuals on and off for about 10 years - most recently a Jetta, and a Celica before that. Have had my 99 9-3 for 30 days. After searching thru the posts I'm experiencing the usual things - "rubbery, notchy" shifts into 2->3 (usually), sporadically 3->4, reverse gear ratio seems too high - have to let clutch slip somewhat or be going 90mph in reverse, et. al. I can live with this.
What I do notice, and I'm not sure if this is a Saab trait, is that the car tends to "rock" somewhat when you punch the throttle, or if you quickly back off the throttle. If I don't do it smoothly and somewhat slowly it's like I get a rocking motion briefly - then it goes away. Not sure if the engine mounts need tightening or what. I don't recall my Jetta or Celica being so prone to the rocking motion quickly accelerating or de-accelerating...
thx.
