I have hit all the "common" problems with my 1999 9-3 5-sp . I have 50,000 kms ( 30,000 miles) on the car.
- Replaced BPC valve 3 times (car was overboositng and going to fuel cutoff)
- Replaced heater control knob then later had to replace entire heater control unit to fix unit properly.
- Replaced exhaust flex coupling 2 times due to leaking
- Full new set of brake pads and rotor cutting at 40,000 kms $$$
- I replace spark plugs every 10,000 kms. this is required to keep boost at proper levels.
- Replace engine head gasket due to coolant leak at 48,000 kms.
All told the car has been in the shop about 10 full days in the past two years, half of this time was just for waiting on parts. I would NEVER own this car without the warranty. I can only imagine what the bill for all of these repairs would have been! All this said though, I love the car and find it a hoot to drive!! It is celarly a Love/Hate realationship. I will stick with leasing my Saab's though.
