In 1967 when my SAAB 96-V4 was brand new, two friends bought new BMW 2002s. They were driven (even then) by the margue. Each of them wished they had gotten the 96-V4 after we had gone on drives together. The back seat in the SAAB was very comfortable and roomy. The BMW was as cramped as the back seat of a VW Beetle. Each had problems with their cars. I had none. We were in Germany and the Ford garage where I had routine services done said that the SAAB with the German Ford V4 was far superior to the Ford which had been designed around this same engine. By the way, this was more than 20 years into SAAB history and a hatchback had yet to appear. Not 'til later in the SAAB 99 line evolution did the Sportwagon come about. Real, True or whatever designation you choose is only important to you. It is interesting to note that 900 lovers seem to think that SAAB was born with that model. Not so.
