I know from someone who has retrofit a 9-3 hatch onto a NG900 that it fits perfectly but you have two issues:
The striker plate for the locking mechanism must be changed, and the wiring for the lock mechanism is totally different between the NG900 and 9-3. The NG900 only unlocks the hatch when you press the button on the drivers door or the remote. The 9-3 is more complex... It can actually RELOCK the hatch door after a certain interval if it's not opened. You won't be able to get this to work without the upgraded Integrated Central Electronics (ICE) box that the 9-3 has... And you can't just plop a new ICE box in a NG900 without other incompatibilities. So basically, the relocking mechanism isn't gonna work. No biggie. Hope you know something about electrics because you're still gonna have to do some basic wiring for the lights...
