I have a 2001 SE, I wanted the Viggen but the dealership in South Florida demanded sticker price on the Viggens (!). I got my SE for $35k, that is $10k less than the Viggen with its sticker price.

Anyways, I really appreciate the unique physical apperance of the Viggen. The ground effects, the orgasmic seats, etc. But performance wise it isn't that much better than an SE. In fact, if you pick up an issue of Motor Trend (might be Car & Driver or Road & Track, whichever one publishes data on past reviews), look at the past reviews data section, and you'll see that to 60mph the Viggen did it in 6.6 secs, when an SE did it in 6.8. The 1/4 mile is similar too, only 2/10 of a second. Considering the massive turbo in the Viggen and its more powerful engine, you'd suspect something closer to 6 flat.

Just goes to show you how much the ECU is limiting the power of the Viggen, and the SE too.

Also, the 2000 model doesn't have traction control, and torque steer is a real bitch with the Viggen, not so much soo with the SE.

So what I am saying is that if you're looking for performance as the deciding role, the SE is quite similar to a Viggen. The looks of the Viggen are killer though. It makes any car wet their pants. Whichever one you choose, make sure you upgrade the ECU, I sure am!

Good luck buddy!
