1994-2002 [Subscribe to Daily Digest] |
Just wanted to share my good fortune on my recent purchase. I'm still pinching myself wondering how I got such a good deal. I feel very lucky to be able to own such a fantastic vehicle at a phenomenal price.
I have owned a 1995 900 SE 3dr until recently. Last month (Dec '01) I saw the 0% adds for a 2002 model. This was the perfect opportunity to fulfill my need to change to the 5dr. I visited the local Saab dealer and test drove the '02 9-3 SE 5dr with premium package. The sticker price was $32,??? or $33,???. The salesman mentioned a new 2001 9-3 Viggen 5dr that was still on the lot with a sticker price of $39,020. So, I test drove that too thinking there is no way I can afford the additional cost. The 0% financing was not available for the Viggen but 5.75% was available.
When we sat down at the bargaining table the price on the '02 SE was $31,??? and the price on the '01 Viggen was almost identical at $31,020! A $2,000 reduction for Saab owner loyalty was available as an added incentive on the Viggen. Thus, the price was reduced to $29,020!!! I guess the dealership decided it was time to "get the old models off the lot." Of course, I chose the Viggen over the SE.
As far as I can tell this price is unheard of. The current http://www.edmunds.com price on a 2001 Viggen is $29,141 presumably with 12K miles. This car had 69 miles on it when purchased. I assume all miles are from previous test drives.
In case you were wondering what happened to my 1995 900 SE. I recently sold it to another Saab lover for below Kelley Blue Book value.
Good luck to you all on your next Saab purchase! I hope you get an equally fantastic deal.
