185 hp engine. Driving that fast doesn't hurt the car as long as you don't keep it on the redline all the time. Most of the time I am running 3000-4000 RPM on the autobahn. That balances most traffic (except during rush hour around Frankfurt when I may as well be in the US), leaves room for error, and gets me in the mid-20 MPG range in terms of economy. That is cruising between 100 - 110 MPH. As to the condition of my cars, autobahn driving is better for them compared to city driving with stop and go driving, and frequent hot and cold cycles on the engine and drive train. City driving is really tough on turbos and their exhaust systems if you only drive a few miles. The periodic highway trip is a must. I often think I am hard on my cars, but I always seem to keep them many years and over 100,000 plus miles with relatively few problems. Many times my cars are sold to friends and relatives who have no problems buying my used cars. Then they drive them for several years. Maintenance is the key to durability and safety. Take care of it and it will last!
