I went from a '95 900S (80-odd thousand miles) stick to a 2000 9-3 base stick. The biggest difference for me was the turbo. BUt there were some other improvements. The clutch is hydrualic on 9-3, I had a load of problems withthe cable cltch on the '95. The front suspension is more compliant on the 9-3. It is much better isolated, even with the 16" 3-spokes and Michelin SX on my base car. I should say that with the winter weather, I went back to the stock 195/60-15 MXVs and I prefer the car with the stock set up-not for harshess but it's quieter riding and it just feels more nimble to me. No idea about lateral accelaration, but frankly that's not much of an issue for me. The nbottom line is that there is not a big difference. I would wait for the new chassis myself, then you can pick from either left over '02 or new '03.
