, anything '97-02 is more or less bullet-proof. The '99 and up 9-3's switched to a hydraulic top that operates much quicker and is much quieter that the 900 electric tops. '99 model 9-3's with mileage in the 40's and 50's can be bought in the mid to high teen pricerange now, and low mileage 9-3's can be purchased in the low twenties. If you can afford the extra few thousand, the 9-3 is worth the step up.
