The Saab 9-3 and 9-5 score among the best in insurance claims for injuries. State Farm had ratings on their website a while ago. Also, you can try NHTSA's website. I think they list injury and death rates. To me, these statistics are more telling than just crash tests. Crash tests into a wall don't tell you how a car is going to survive a rollover or how well the front seats hold-up in a rear collision (i.e. do the seat backs give and you're propelled into the rear seat?).
I know the Mercedes C-Class sedan did very well in the European offset and side crash tests.
If you're concerned about safety, I think the C230 or 9-3 are good choices. I would be wary of the Acura RSX. I think the Europeans are ahead in safety.
