I was looking to test drive a SE stick, no premium package, but they only had auto fully loaded cars in stock. It was nice, enough pickup even for an automatic..
My question: (For US Saab 9-3 SE)
Without the premium package:
1) Are the seats partially or fully leather?
2) Does the "special suspension" make much of a difference?
3) Is it difficult to add the door speakers? (I read the other messages and know that replacing the other 4 are easy, but the door may or may not have wiring?)
General:
1) Is the metallic paint option ($~500) worth it? I'm interested either in steel gray, black, or midnight blue.
2) There is currently a $4000 rebate on the SE, but I'd rather wait and do a bit more research (test drive a stick version), and to price it out here and in Canada (I'm Canadian..) before I commit. Should I believe that the $4000 should still be there next month. The dealer tells me that it may, or it may not...
General comment: I emailed all of the dealers in MI for a quote (I work for GM, so its a fixed price..) on a specific model with specific options. I did not get one reply yet...
I calculated what I would pay if I would to buy it:
GM Employee price: $26,044 (include destination charge)
Premium package + $1656 (GM price)
GM Rebate: -$4000
Oldsmobile rebate: -$1000
Tax: + $1662
Title: +$100
My final out the door price should be $24,460. (~$39,000 Canadian) Seems like a deal of a life time?
However, in Canada, the MSRP on a 9-3 SE HOT special edition (seems to have all the stuff thats in the premium package) is $37,600 (includes destination fee), and we know that Saabs don't sell for MSRP.. So I'm not really getting a super deal buying the above (i.e. I can probably get a similar deal in Canada any time...) I'm going to see if there are any "specials" in Canada this weekend. Does anyone in Canada know if there are any deals right now?
