At the present time I own a '92TC, a 96 900 5 door automatic, and a '02 9-3 5 speed. I have only had the 9-3 for less than a week but my initial impression is that it feels very different from both the '92 and '96. Compared to the '92, as you ask, it is much quicker and smoother. The '92 handles really well but is a harsher ride. I think the '02 can hang with the '92 in the turns buts does so with fewer jolts to the driver. The '92 also has a heavy feel to it. The '02 feels light on its feet and more agile. Both cars are fun to drive, just different, IMO.
