25,200 is an OK price. You maybe able to do a little bit better, depending on how much inventory your dealer has on-hand. At the least you should be able to get your dealer to throw in the Saab sliding arm-rest and all season or winter floor mat (highly recommended) for free.
For the 1st year, On-star service is free so you can always call for direction if you are lost. Works better then electronic compress :-)
As for winter driving, you really need a set of winter tires. The OE or all season tires is not going to cut it in upstate NY (I know, I went to college in Rochester). You should be able to get a set of steel rims and tires from place like tirerack for about $500-$600. My friends put snow tires on in the winter and he drive to Vermont every weekend. He told me he NEVER had any problem even in the snow strom.
I also considered the Audi A4 before buying my 01 9-3SE. I decided on the Saab because I really like the hatch back and I also think the A4 is a bit overpriced. I didn't like the base A4 (too slow) and the loaded 5spd V6 version is about $34K. You just can't beat the Saab on the bang-for-the-buck factor. However, the Audi does have the auto-dimming mirrors with built-in electronic compress as an option :-)
If you do buy the Saab, just remember the resale value drop faster then dot com stocks. If you plan to keep your car (like me) for at least 5 or 6 years, you will be OK. Otherwise, you might want to consider the Audi.
Good Luck!
