They have to allow for rampup time. I've been involved in many model changeovers with my job, and typically a run will end in July/August for a "new model year" release in October/November. That's enough time to ramp up the new production. Trust me, it can take some time to get to 100% cycle time, and keeping repair areas from filling up is a challenge. It is quite an effort to do a major model change. From the sound of things this 9-3 is going to be much more than just a change of some trim. Stamping, Body Weld, Paint, and Final Assembly shops will all have their own problems to work through...
Will the new 9-3 still use the same powertrain?
