Watch out for your gas hose rubbing (long)

I have a 97 900 set which is a very simular car and have had trouble with the tires rubbing on the back passenger side on the gas hose. This hose travels down from the gas cap left to right and outward to inwards. Increasing your hieght or width can potentially cause trouble with rubbing this gas hose line. The problem that I had is that there was no rubbing on this hose when I did a roll out test checking for rubbing on the car. What happened was that when taking corners very aggressively the side walls of my tires(goodyear) would flex and move laterally enough to actually rub this hose. I didn't notice this until I upgrades my brakes a few weeks ago and was shocked on how many rub marks were on my gas hose. I quickly put on some spacers to try to reduce this laterally movement with much success. You may not have this problem if (1) your sidewalls are very stiff (2) if you keep your tires properly inflated thus reducing sidewall flex (3) if you have also upgraded you suspension to reduce body roll. You may also want to periodically check for this type of wear due to the potentially deadly side effects this rubbing my cause.


my car is equipped with a Abbott Racing rear sway bar and I still have had this wear.
