On the Saab NG900/9-3 SE models with the front door speakers, the door speaker amplifier only supplies frequencies below 200Hz. So a 6-1/2" or 6-3/4 " mid-bass speaker is all that is necessary.
But trying to find an aftermarket 6-1/2" or 6-3/4" mid-bass speaker is difficult. Component speaker sets have seperate mid-bass, tweeters, and cross-overs, but are very expensive and you don't need the cross-over or tweeter. Another option is to use a 6-1/2" or 6-3/4" co-axial speaker. They are easy to find and fairly inexpensive. Of course, the tweeter will be just sitting there doing nothing. If the tweeter is a small post-mounted unit, it shouldn't interfer with the bass much.
