Hi !
Interesting subject !
As a matter of a fact, it´s not safe to start the engine, it may break....
T5 is designed to run the engine under normal conditions, and under "normal fault" conditions.
For a moderate boost (maniplation) increase we have added some fuel for you :-) but still it´s far from safe under some conditions.
If the boost reach really high values, then the T5 will cut off the fuel.
You do have a point about MBC being safe/not safe, as long as the MBC is set to a value lower than stock boost and you´re using hi-octane fuel, not too warm climat or hi-altitude, you are normally quite safe.
There has been done alot of research.....trust me.
The way I see it, MBC is a way of increasing the boost if it can´t be done electronically, the problem is the higher power you are aiming at, the closer to the limit you will come.
Once on the wrong side of the limit, there is a "chance" that the engine can be destroyed.
So, to be safe, the MBC has to be set so that it´s safe under "worst case" conditions, the problem is to find the setting.
How many of you use equipment to listen to the engine, to hear if it´s knocking.
And, how many of you know where the litit is ?
I´m not against engine tuning, I´ve just seen the results of what can happen if you do something wrong.
So, I want to share my experience with you, so that you do not have to make the mistakes.
But, if you want to make mistakes, I can´t stop you.....?
