'02 9-3 SE Auto...sluggish when cold?

I picked up a 2002 9-3 auto with premium package a few days ago and really like the car. It's my first Saab and the recent lease deal sucked me in. You just can't beat it for the money (I also got the GM discount which made it even better!) Anyway, I got the auto, and was really on the fence about it. But, I have to drive into downtown Detroit on a daily basis and construction traffic can be a killer.
I've noticed that when it is cold, and in normal mode, it seems very sluggish off the line. I have to really smash the pedal to get it moving. When it warms up, it responds a little better, but it seems to need a lot of pedal travel to get it to kick down and accelerate. In sport mode, response is much, much better and it seems I have to drive in this mode most of the time to enjoy the performance. Is this a normal trait of the auto, or is it something to have the dealer take a look at?
