I recently purchased the Saab (Pioneer) CD changer from someone turning in their 9-3 at the end of lease. This weekend I pulled back the trim in the hatch to install the mounting brackets and make the cuts in the trim to get to the mounting brackets and the changer cable. The only problem is that I could not easily tell which cable was the changer cable.
I noticed one bundled wire cable that ran along the bottom edge of the hatch (below the antenna mast housing). It went along the perimiter edge of the hatch, curved around the back edge and disappeared behind some plastic trim below the left rear taillight.
The only other bundled wire cables I saw were tucked into a cutout in the left side wall of the hatch behind the carpet trip. This cutout area, though, is about a foot foward of the mounting bracket location. As they went into the cutout area, they fed through a bundle of foam rubber. I pulled gently on these cables to see if one of them had a bare connector on the end (for the changer), but it seemed like they were plugged to something else and I did not want to pull too hard and pull something loose. I assume the foam rubber was there to keep any plastic connectors from rattling against the sheet metal of the left rear quarter panel. Is this a likely place to find the CD changer cable. In other words, should I tug on those cables a little more? It did not look like there was enough cable there to feed down to where the changer mounting bracket attaches at the back corner of the hatch.
Would someone provide some more information on what either the cable or its connector looks like (i.e., color, location, etc.)? Thanks.
