I went in for my 50K oil change. First of all, Saab Nashua North wanted $70 to balance my wheels...SEVENTY DOLLARS!!
The justification: "Oh, ah, well, those wheels are...well, you have to do 'em differently because they're the Viggen wheels". Needless to say, I told them that I was quoted $25 over the phone and that's what I ended up paying. I guess when it comes to wheel weights, "sticking" costs more than "clamping". Losers.
So then, I was like, "Can you whip out the Tech 2 and turn off the chirps when I unlock the trunk?". They said "Aw sure, we'll get started on that." I said, "Well, how much does it cost?", knowing it couldn't possibly be too much; you plug in the Tech, navigate the menu, look up the code in the book...
"Fourty dollars."
FOURTY DOLLARS??? I replied "Fourty bucks! Seriously??". The Service Manager responded "Yeah, well, uh, you see it's programming, and we gotta get in there, it's about half hour's labor, you know, it's programming we gotta do" as if I would be totally mystified by "programming" (I'm a software engineer. This f****r would probably have me believe they actually go in and write code for the Saab to turn off my chirper! Needless to say, I told them to forget it. I'll live with it.
Thank god I'm out of the factory warranty (thought I'd never say it). Now I can take it down the street to Brutus in Manchester, whom I'm told came up from Charles River Saab and does excellent work. Looking forward to it.
