Sorry for the long post, but important info at the bottom for all of you.
I am now an owner of a '99 Viggen with 20k miles. The problems so far, not the car's fault, have been numerous. I told the dealer not to install a front license bracket, which it did not have previously, but they did, with 12 mm sheet metal screws, no less. The car was shipped out a week after it was supposed to be, from NY to AZ, and was supposed to be here in 7 to 10 days, it arrived exactly 2 weeks after being shipped, the 2nd week I was without a car. But all was forgive since I now had it and it is a nice car, despite some paint scratches I previously knew about. Then I put it on a hoist at work to change the oil and inspect it. Thats when I notice two 6+ inch long by 1+ inch wide gashes in the sheet metal on the 2 rear mini sub-frames, obviously from incompetence and/or an incident from the shipping, since there was no rust on the torn sheet metal. It was Friday night, so I will not even be able to contact the shipper until Monday, and the contract states that damage from broken tie downs is not even covered, although that is not the cause here anyway. I'll probably end up having to get a lawyer. But the car is a blast to drive, and everything works so far.
I would advise you all if you are having your car shipped or towed, be aware of this area (directly above the muffler and on the opposite side in the rear) for damage. Hopefully, something will start going right from here on out.
