I have the notchiness in my 5-speed Viggen as well, and recently started a thread about an incident where I could not for the life of me get the car in 1st gear while sitting at a light. Finally rolling backwards about an inch cleared the path, and I've had no recurrences of the problem. I do miss gears every now and then because of the quirks of the shifter.
That said, I haven't been to the dealer about this because as someone else wisely pointed out, the cure might be worse than the disease for this small issue even if you convince them to address it. Depends on the mechanics at your dealer. I don't know how badly this affects you, but I'm hesitant to let them touch the tranny unless it seems really screwed. It's one of the reasons I read this board religiously. I get a good feel of what the issues are with the car, and the notchy 5-speed seems to be a "feature" of the 9-3 manuals, not necessarily something messed up exclusively in my car. If it gets worse then I'll have them address it. Good luck either way.
