Hi Guys,

Two things for you... I've noticed over the past week or so that my 2001 9-3 SE (manual) is requiring a couple extra seconds on the starter in the morning to get going and once it does, it idles rough for a good 7-10 seconds before things smooth out (by itself - without touching the gas pedal). Once it does, it is fine after that. It only seems to do this after the engine has cooled off completely. I don't notice it when warm or even after 4-6 hrs. This is the first time I have experienced this in 14K mi. I will note however that we are experiencing wicked temperature swings in Upstate NY now... 45-50 one day and 85-90 the next. Any ideas? Spark plugs? Clogged fuel injector? Condensation from temperature changes? I plan to put a bottle of Techron in at the next fill up to see if that takes care of things. I normally run Mobil Super+ 93 or Sunoco Ultra 94 so I don't think it is a fuel related problem.

Second, the right front speakers (both of them on the SE) fade in and out and have a significant amount of static in them. If I adjust the fader on the head unit it fixes it for a period of time - where they will operate normally - but after awhile it starts acting up again. Head unit? Amplifier? Speakers? My feeling is there is a short in the head unit that is causing this - along with the static. Are head unit problems common in the 9-3?

Looking forward to your ideas...
