I went to Midtown Saab/Saturn too in Toronto to see what they have. They had 0.9% financing back in March (just before Easter). I told them there was a $4000us rebate in the US and he told me he doesn't know about it, and Saab "HAVE NEVER had rebates in Canada" (Don't know if its a lie..).
Anyways, even though I told him I was a GM Employee (he automatically gave me 5% off MSRP in the rough calculations), he had room to move. (I told him I wasn't sure whether to buy in the US or Canada, but rather buy in Canada if the price was the same or better. He told me to confirm the price and options in the US and come back to talk to him. From his rough calculations, with just the 5% off MSRP and the 0.9% financing, the price was almost the same as the US price with the $4000us rebate. I'm sure I could have atleast match it.
I remember vaguely that he said "the deal is in leasing". (I wasn't interested in leasing, so I told him to stop talking about leasing. ;-)
Definitely go to more than 1 dealer. Thats the benefit of living in a big city!
Oh. The dealer told me that if he doesn't have the car I want in stock (he didn't), he can "look for one".
