I went the other way, saab 9-3se to Ford Explorer, although I also own a 9-5. the saab is waaaay faster, and handles much better. With a manual transmission I got 27 mpg. The saab is much more fun to drive on a daily basis. However, you need to pull the front seats forward if you are carrying adults in the back seats. You also cant fit the gigantic kiddie playhouse box in the back, like you could with the Tahoe.
They are about as different as you can get
