I have purchased my Saab 9-3 base after leasing it for 3 years from Chase. After some negotiation they offered me to forgo my last remaining 5 lease payments (total ~1500 USD), my lease return payment of 450 USD and offered me an APR of 6.8% on the loan. In addition my car dealer offered me a free 30.000 miles service (~600 USD) for free. I think this is an excellent and fair offer. After deducting all the "rebates" above my Saab with a residual value of 16.500 USD was available for 13.950 USD and therefore I bought my well maintained Saab.
I can only recommend to negotiate with Chase (if this is the lienholder) or any other bank. No Saab dealer wants to have a lease return sitting on his lot and costing him/her money.
Good luck
Murat
