I had a really annoying whistle coming from the passenger (right) side in my 2001 9-3. I had to be going 70 mph or better and a crosswind would make it louder. I used a thin flexible tube to listen along the inside of the right front window. The whistle was loudest at the front upper corner near the mirror. I had noticed a little trickle of water coming in the same place when going through the wash.
Mac (runs SAAB service for Goodman here in Ann Arbor) couldn't get the noise when his mechanic drove the car, but he fixed it for me anyway.
The first time he tried the windshield seal fix with no result.
The next time he wrote it up as a water leak and changed the channel that runs from the lower front corner to the upper rear corner of the front right window. Still no luck as the channel was distorted either bent in shipping or in installation. The third time I pointed out a gap between the mirror fairing and the window channel so the tech replaced the channel and added a strip of adhesive between the mirror fairing and the window channel. Now the whistle is gone and I am happy (all work covered by warrenty). I still get a dull roar from the closed sunroof but I think that's normal. I'm considering the sunroof deflector but I'm not sure if it will quiet things down when the sunroof is closed.
