I have driven at least 6-8 (Six to eight) 2002, 9-3 SE w/auto SAABS at my local dealership before I made my final decision--- because I'm pretty darn particular about how I like my car set-up, noises, etc. They were all very, very close and similar in characteristics. The body fit and finish on this car put it over the top as my final choice. But I was impressed as to how well they were prepped.

It could also be the expertise of your dealer--prepping or slacking before delivery.

Note: I was in Sweden in early Dec. 2001, to visit some friends of mine--who work for SAAB-- and got to drive the 9-3 AERO (same as the 9-3 SE in the USA). These guys I feel are just as exacting as me. After 4 hours of a test drive, I knew what the car could do.

When I got back to the USA, I knew PRECISELY what to go after--the funny thing was, the vehicle I selected only needed a couple tweeks to bring it to my wants. I guess I am indeed fortunate to have this great SAAB technician at my dealer----he's even on some advisory board ---

I was given a 2002 "service-loaner" too, and it was not even close to the 2002 car I am so happpy to be driving. It was under boosted power-wise, and lumpy in its shifts, and several other things too--all very easily correctible--but it's really a let down when you know what the car can REALLY do .

However, after being "loaned" out to the average person who beats the living crap out of it--since it's not their own car--it becomes easier to understand why the lack of care on the part of the dealership.

They could (almost) repair their "loaners" after each day.
