Shudder/Vibration When Fan is Engaged

I've been feeling (and hearing) a distinct shudder/vibration when the fan engages (with or without AC) over the past several days. Visual inspection of the fan and the belt did not reveal anything (not that I would know what to look for). I have a 2002 9-3, my 2001 9-3 (RIP) was very quiet (and rock solid -- I don't want to even go into the rattles, squeaks and whistling on the 2002). Should I be concerned? I really dislike my dealer/service center and want to avoid dealing with them unless I have to.
