Some BMW's have syncro reverse, so you can shift the car while it is rolling. Not a bad idea as it is useful in certain situations (i.e. "road rage") but yes.....the clutch disengages the engine and trans. not the wheels. Good description with that, but the same thing happens when the car is running forward so it needs syncros to line everything up without grinding, or a perfect double clutch.....hope not to get ripped on for this post. Just writing some stuff.
