9-3 loaner review

Dropped my 1997 Aero off for service this morning and got a '02 9-3 SE auto with 6500 miles. The car looked nice when I saw the loaner I was getting, maybe it was the fire engine red I wasn't used to but I kind of liked the identity change. The front spoiler is sharp and the rocker sills look nice painted body color. Its the subtle hints in exterior trim that really finish a car(aero, viggen, this car) The car was tight, no interior noises and it had a very solid feel, I thought saab lost when going to the NG900. I was impressed with the latest 9-3's engine. With the auto I find I'm more impressed with how easily you can accelerate even if it doesn't feel fast. This car took me up to highway speeds without any rev strain or loud noises, just all of a sudden you're going 80. The sport mode was a must for me with the auto. The only thing I wanted was a set of upgraded roll bars to take some of the body lean out of it. All of this is coming from someone who drives a highly modified aero 5 speed so the seat of the pants feel wasn't close to my car, but it was fast for what it was and the suspension was good. I definately think I'll be trying to get my wife to look at them next month, that or the 9-5 wagon. Thanks for reading.
