Thanks for all the responses. I'm glad I followed my intuition.
I noticed that Sport mode makes a big difference. One of the cars
I drove while shopping was a 2001 9-3 (non-se) with an auto. and
the 185 engine. I test drove it with an Acura salesman (the Saab guy
was busy) and it seemed sluggish. Got back to the dealer and commented
on the lack of power and the Saab guy immediately pointed out that it
wasn't in sport mode. Went out again with sport mode on and it was like
driving a different car.
Thanks again for all the tips.
