If you go with option 2, you're out some money and a little time. You WON'T have increased premiums. Just don't let your insurance company know. They don't check your records every year, but you may give them a reason to flag you for a check if you call 'em. I have a feeling they check you a year after you open a policy. Maybe they spot check everyone after a year, and do annual checkups on high risk drivers.

I was dropped from Westfield after a few years. They said I was high risk. I got a ticket a year for a few years, but they finally checked up on me. Turns out the cost was LESS when I went from there to progressive, added my (at the time) fiancee and her car. Now we're running 3 saabs, many tickets, 1 wreck, and her corolla was stolen last year. I dread the bill when I re-up this summer.

Just my theory as a driver with too many tickets, 1 wreck claim, and 1 car stolen. I go for keeping insurance costs down. They're recurring. $100 for a ticket is not going to kill me...
