All I can find about this issue in the owner's manual is "If the speed exceeds 143 mph (230 km/h), the increase in speed will be limited by the lowering of the boost pressure." On my car this seems to occur at an indicated 153 mph. I know the speedometer is accurate at 60 mph and at 120 mph. I might get a chance to check with my GPS if I can find a straight section of traffic free autobahn before I leave Germany. One thing to be aware of with the GPS is most consumer GPS receivers need a straight stretch of road to give an accurate speed. Any curve in the road that occurs between update intervals for the system will give a lower indicated speed since the system is measuring distance between two points in a straight line. The faster the speed the greater the error. There are other variables depending on how your unit is programed to measure speed. Most of our military GPS receivers and some high end units have a mode that will minimize the error, but a straight stretch of road at a constant speed should provide a good measurement.
