I have a question for all you familiar with the 9-3's. My girlfriend recently purchased a used '99 9-3 se with about 50 k on the odo. It has been a great car for the month or so that she's been driving it. Today, however on the trip back to the house we had a little bit of a strange experience. Under hard acceleration, the engine just seemed to shut off- not completely, but the car would lose power for a second and then regain full steam again, repeatedly until the pedal was released. My question- does the 9-3 have a wastegated turbo setup?? It almost sounded like turbo pressure being released when the car would slow. Like a quick burst of air under the hood is how I would describe it. We made another stop, turned the car off, and then proceeded on our way- but it did the same thing. After the second episode, the check engine light came on. What can we look for, or any idea what the problem might be?? Any help or insight from anyone is greatly appreciated!!!
