My damn builder used it on the vinyl floors in our house to get some marks off in the final cleaning. Now there are 3 bid dull spots in the kitchen. Goo Gone seems to be much less agressive, but did take the finish off of an old drafting table (luckily it was not mine and I didn't do it).
As I hear, our rims are sensitive. I have found that bug and tar remover to be very gentle, thus it can be used on clear coats.
Be careful and test a small area first.
later,
tony
