I have a base 99 9-3, and installed the SAS bar 3 months ago. It GREATLY improves handling and reduced body roll. Yes, the ride is somewhat firmer, but not that bad. Face it, the 9-3 suspension and chassis isn't the worlds best, but adding the sway bar improves it, springs and shox help also. Lots of debates and issues on this one.
I purchased the SAS not because of cost, but the fact that the larger bar - IMHO -would result in better handling. I would hate to spend the $265 for the abbott and be unsatisfied...would be a waste of my time.
Get the SAS bar, it's $125 and can be installed in 1 hour.
Check for REM in Seattle or Dean posts here and in NG900 for their POV. I also posted instructions to install on this board too.
good luck.
