As promised earlier, I thought I would give some comments regarding the Eibach Pro System suspension kit I had installed.

The pro kit includes both springs and shocks. I got mine from shox.com for a pretty good price. It arrived exactly five days after I placed the order, just as the customer service rep. at shox.com promised it would. I promptly made an appointment with my favorite European-make garage to have the kit installed. Today was the day!

I will preface this all by saying that I'd hoped to have pictures ready for this post. It's gonna take a bit longer, but I hope to have something to show you all in the next couple of days. The kit dictates an expected drop of 1.2-1.5" is normal. Well... last night I could fit all five fingers of my hand in the wheel gap on all four corners. Today I can fit two. The drop is already something closer to 3" (I haven't had an opportunity to measure, sorry). It looks quite good to my eye, and my brother concurred - he's not even a "car guy".

The ride is exciting. The bumps definitely transfer to the cabin somewhat more than they did with the stock SE suspension. It is not a harsh ride, though. I hit some frost heaves that were a bit more eye-opening, but it was worth it because...

The steering is phenomenal. I am running the stock wheels and rubber (16" w/ Good Year Eagle RS-A), nonetheless the car handles like it's on rails. The steering response is 10x crisper, there is barely any body roll, and it tracks very well. I suspect that I will be needing an alignment when my next service interval arrives, but the worst thing I noticed was the same camber steer that affected the car on the stock suspension.

Interestingly, I had a few opportunities to hammer the throttle on my test ride, and I noticed a very discernible reduction in torque steer. I chalk some of this up to the air conditioner sapping power, but at one point I was really juicing it, chirping the tires in first and second gear with my automatic, and the wheel barely fought me for control. Hopefully that will continue to be a benefit of the Eibach kit.

All in all, I think this was a great modification for the car. If I had a girlfriend right now I would tell you all what the result of the true test is, but I may have to report back for that one... I am guessing that it won't pass with flying colors, as the road-feel does transfer somewhat more directly to the backside. This ain't your grandpa's Buick!

I'll post the location of the pics as soon as I have them up.

I'm happy to answer any questions if there are any out there.
