I picked up my "new" certified-used '01 9-3SE the other day. 5k miles, steel grey, 5spd, SE package goodies. I love it! Drove 1k miles back home to Houston after picking up the car... great on the freeway, and reassuring in some REALLY nasty weather on the way. I'm still nervously uncomfortable driving it around in heavy city traffic though...not used to a feel for the dimensions yet like on my old 900.

All in all, I was very happy with the decision to go certified used vs. a new '02. Essentially the same car at a discounted price. I take the risk of what the previous owner did in the first 5k miles, but I've got an extra 2yr/50k worth of warranty in exchange... pretty good deal. What really made the decision though is that I was able to get exactly the car I wanted (steel grey 5spd, premium package). These are virtually impossible to find in an '02 (if you want one, let me know, I think I've tracked every single one of them down :-)

Very happy with the 5spd. Auto of course would have it's advantages in traffic, but all things said and done, I wanted the 5spd. The clutch is SO MUCH easier than my C900. I could hardly drive the C900 last night after getting used to the pedal on the 9-3. The C900 clutch felt like a leg press machine.

Going to get the Stongard treatment tomorrow, then leaving Saturday morning for a month up Hwy 1 on the CA coast...can't wait to put the car through the paces!

In the spirit of my good friends on the C900 board, I have of course named the new car. The name is "Haj", which I understand to be Swedish for "shark". Quite fitting I think with the steel grey and the On Star "fin" :-)

Woo hoo!

'Roo
