ditto ... I snagged a 2002 9-3 SE Conv ... very happy I did. This is a great car. Last model of a long line should have most of the kinks worked out. Plus, the deals being offered (i.e. lease deals) are under excellent terms. Somehow, I don't think those terms will be available for the new model.
In my opinion, the new 9-3 does not look like a "SAAB" and I totally agree that it is a more mainstream look. Looks a bit like my neighbors Pontiac Grand Prix. Granted, they are trying to evolve, and I haven't actually seen one in person. Nonetheless, when I see some of the pictures ... I start thinking of Nissan and Pontiac and ..
I'll have to wait and see till the 3-doors come out. Maybe they will look more like my vision of "SAAB". Nonetheless, I am sure that they will prove to be great cars so long as SAAB influences the engine design. I love the SAAB engine and as far as I know these new models will have SAAB designed and/or manufactured engines. Right?
