17" Wheel Upgrade - Wobble

I recently upgraded my base 1999 9-3 to 17" Ronal R7 (17x8) and Kumho 205/45/17 tires.
The handling is exponentially improved (as are the optics), however the smooth ride is gone. I expected the ride to be more harsh (better feel of the road, etc.), but it almost feels like the tires are not balanced. As opposed to the small up/down jolts I expected to translate through the smaller sidewalls, there is a "wobble" that I feel in the seat of my pants - only while driving ..:-)
Before I bring the car back in for a rebalance, can anyone tell me if this is simply a produc of the smaller sidewalls, or do I potentially have a balance problem?
Thanks.
