The first thing to do is get rid of the tires , especially if it came with the Dunlops. This car MUST have a good quality tire, I swear by the Bridgestone SO3's they are great. Never use standard octane fuel you loose so much performance that it is pitiful.
Next as has already been suggested get the VRK it is worth the money. When you combine this with the Abbott springs and dampers it is a completely different car. The other weak spot is the rear anti roll this should definately be upgraded.
When you have dealt with the road handling as above you can then start to have some performance fun. But there is litte point in doing any of the below without making the platform stable first. All that will happen is lots of wheel spin and it will be harder to drive.
Anyway. Exhaust comes next full 3" stainless steel with racing CAT conversion and performance back box. Replace the whole system. Not only does it spool up faster and give more grunt right through the range but it sounds great too.
Next you need to look at getting the Air into the engine more efficiently this is a two fold system firstly the Air filter A&N do a good replacement system that fits into the existing air box. Follow this up with an uprated air intake from Abbott.
Now you have so much extra power going for the upgraded 4 pot brakes really makes sense. If you live in a city like me you will need to stop very quickly if you try putting your foot down in built up areas.
After this little lot you need to look at turbo temperatures and on the Viggen the water spray systems are not advisable. GO for an uprated Inter Cooler. This combination will add to all aspects of the performance 0-60 mph high end and spool up, it becomes really noticeable.
Finnally go for the ECU take your pick but it is best to buy this last and not as most people do first. If you buy it last go can get a chip that matches the other upgrades that you have selected and get maximum bang for your buck.
By the time you get to this stage you are looking at a car with superb handling and a well matched braking system. The power and ability to take on most cars on a rolling start is yours when you need it. The only reall options worth thoinking about at this point are something like a High FLowed ported head, this may be overkill and the return for your buck is limited.
As you have probably realised by now this is what I ahve done to my 2000 Viggen Rag Top. I love my car everyone who knows it wants to buy it from me. I only ever get positive feedback. After 2 years I still smile everytime I use it. So have some fun with yours.
PS I think I have well over 300 HP but hey who cares it's the grin factor that I like.
Regards
Charlie
