The Koni's don't care about what tires that you run.
Don't go for wider tread if you are worried about driving in the snow. Are those wider tires suited for your rims. I think that you probably have a 6.5" rim width.
Get performance tires. The Potenza S-03's are extremely good and at $127 each a great value. Get a winter tire package from Tirerack. If you don't want max traction snow tires because the winter season is too long, get a touring snow tire that has better tread wear.
Running snows protects you alloys, and with full size wheel covers on steelies, you protect your brakes to some extent from salt. This extends the life of you summer tires for times where you can better enjoy them, and protects your wheels from some of the pot holes that come and go during the winter months. The snow tires will also protect your life and your Saab when its time for slush, snow and ice. There is only one down side, and thats having 4 wheels to store all of the time. I also like being able to throw one of those in the trunk to be a full size spare when going on a long road trip.
