clutch noise

Like others who have some postings here, I am hearing a metallic noise or bark from the clutch when letting it out in first gear, usually after driving a while. The clutch seems to work fine but the noise is obnoxious and disconcerting. The dealer recreated it okay, and is unsure what it is but thinks its a faulty spring. Saab has taken the position to date that the clutch is only covered under warranty until 16k miles (my 1999 9 3 has 40k). Any thoughts or experiences would be helpful in terms of whether anyone has had luck with Saab covering this under warranty, or whether this is a problem that needs to actually be fixed or can I just turn up the CD and ignore it. Dealer agreed its not a worn clutch but likely a defect in the clutch or spring, and indicated that the Saab Tech people had heard of this. Saab's position ticks me off as a longtime and loyal Saab customer. (maybe not for long), thanks- sorry for the long posting- Bill
