I earlier posted about handling problems following an upgrade of my 99 9-3S to 17" Ronal R-7 rims (see link below.) As I got some great feedback from the board, I wanted to provide an update on the resolution.
After taking the car back to the indie shop that mounted/balanced the tires, it turned out that three of the four Kumhos were out of round. I contacted Tire Rack and after ~1 week of haggling got them to replace all four tires. In addition, I was able to negotiate an upgrade to 215s vs. the 205s that were intially installed. The defective tires were returned to Tire Rack and they confirmed the out of round issue.
As an aside, the installer mentioned that he had seen this problem relatively frequently of late with the Kumhos. This is just one data point, but you may want to steer clear of this brand.
All is well that ends well, I suppose, but what a pain.
