advice re Viggen approaching lease end

I've got a 2000 Viggen convertible on a lease (awesome vehicle!). Two years into the 3-yr lease I've exceeded my allowed 45K lease miles. I'll have to buy the car to avoid paying 15 cents/mile. Called Saab Financial Services end-of-term department. The rep says I'll have to pay $28,778 to buy it. He says there's no flexibility on price until less than 120 days before lease-end (299 days and counting now).
What are the factors they will consider in negotiating the price? If I keep it until the end of the lease it will be out of warranty (well over 50K miles). I'm thinking of buying the car, selling it, and getting a cheaper car for commuting. Seems like it'll be easier to sell if it's still under warranty, even if I have to pay more to get out of the lease.
