Just got my Viggen vert back from Abbott on Friday after it's final peice of work. I have to admit to being quite stunned at what has happened to it. The first visit to Abbott was for the VRK, Lowered springs + Koni Dampers, Rear sway bar, Chip and K&N filter. This was followed by a set of Bridgestone S02's. Next trip was for the Uprated intercooler and the full 3" Exhaust ( down pipe, centre back box + racing cat)and uprated brakes. Friday they finished the job off with the new air intake, dump valve, Big-Exhaust Valve Gas-Flowed Cylinder Head, LSD and the new software.
The most surprising thing is that the power delivery is so smooth and rapid that I cannot really feel when the turbo kicks in, the old turbo lag is just ancient history. The torque is there all the way through the gears and even at mid range revs. The funniest thing is that if I change up into 3rd at 50mph and floor it i can actually hear the wheels spinning.
With all of the changes to the suspension and finally the addition of LSD the power delivery is about as perfect as you will ever get on any FWD car. I can now drive with much more confidence in all driving scenarios. We had some heavy rain over the weekends and the traction from the LSD made it plain sailing. Also going arround roundabouts is a good 10-5 mph faster.
Narrow country lanes, which we have a lot of in the UK are now much more fun than before not so much braking and a lot more speed.
I don't have a clue how much power that I actually have comming from this set up but it must be along way above stock. But I believe that if Saab had put tyhe Viggen out in this form there would be a lot less BMW M3's on the raod today. Having driven the new M£ recvently I think that my Viggen is faster and handles better.
