Dollar per dollar, best performing tire in the market right now, except perhaps the Kumho MX which is relatively new and still unproven.
According to Grassroot Motorsports (and most street tired autocrossers out there), BFG KD's are stickier than both Michelin Pilot Sports and S-03s. During their testing Falken Azenis were BARELY slower than KD's which puts the Azenis on par with both Michelin Pilot Sports and S-03s. Based on similar tire sizes, Azenis cost 1/2 as much as Pilot Sports and S-03s. There's NO reason not to buy this tire.
SP9Ks are a lousy replacement of Dunlops decent SP8Ks. According to Dunlop engineer I spoke with long ago, SP9Ks are better in the wet than SP8Ks, but worse in the dry. Yoko AVS Sports are decent, but are loud with HORRIBLE tread life (at least on our CLK430 it does). Based on GRM's testing, Ecsta 712s were consistently slower than Falkens.
I have the 224/45/17 Azenis all around on the 9-3. Amazing tires on the track.
