As the only Saab dealer in a major metropolitan area our fleet of 6 Saab loaners can be all out pretty often. When all of our service loaners are out Saab will pay for an Enterprise rental, but we've had some pretty unhappy Saab folks who had to drive Geo's and Saturns. Perhaps your service advisor was trying to prevent the pain of a non-Saab loaner?
Or perhaps it's just natural for them to give a higher priority to recent purchasers and the 2001 and 2002 free maintenance folks.

Ask them if Saab will pay for a rental if there's no loaner availible?
We have an Enterprise franchise right in our service drive so the overflow doesn't have far to go.
